The one motivation trick I use when I don’t feel like exercising

Whenever I don't feel like exercising, I do one simple mental exercise.
It works so well that I've been using it for over 15 years!

"I just can't find the motivation."
It's one of the most common things people tell me.

Maybe you've said it yourself.
You know exercise would help.
You know you'd feel better afterward.

But when it's actually time to move...
You just don't feel like it.

Here's what I've learned after exercising for years:

Motivation isn't something you find.
It's something you create.

In fact, whenever I don't feel like exercising, I use one simple mental trick that gets me off the couch almost every time.

I've been using it for over 15 years.

🏃‍♀️‍➡️Here's how it works:

STEP #1: Picture yourself 5 years from now if nothing changes

Close your eyes for a moment.
Imagine that your daily habits stay exactly the same for the next five years.

How will your body feel?
Will you be stiffer than you are today?
Will your back ache more often?
Will getting up from the floor, climbing stairs, or carrying groceries feel harder?

Really picture that version of yourself.

STEP 2: Now fast forward another 10 years

Imagine you're still putting it off.

What does life look like then?
Are you avoiding long walks because your knees hurt?
Do you have less energy than ever?

Have you stopped doing things you once loved because your body won't cooperate?

Don't rush past this.
Sit with that picture for a few seconds.

STEP 3: Now imagine the opposite

Picture yourself five, ten, even twenty years from now...

But this time, imagine you started taking care of yourself today.

Not perfectly.
Just consistently.

Imagine waking up with energy.
Moving without knee or back pain.
Feeling strong, confident, and capable.

Picture yourself traveling, hiking, playing with your kids or grandkids, and saying "YES!" to experiences instead of sitting them out.

That's the future you're building every time you choose to move your body.

STEP 4: Before the feeling fades, take one small action

This is the most important step!

Don't wait until tomorrow.
Use that motivation while it's there.

Go for a 10 minute walk.
Roll out your yoga mat.
Do one quick workout.
Stretch for five minutes.

The action doesn't have to be big.
It just has to happen.

Remember...

The next 10 years are going to pass whether you exercise or not.

The only question is:
Which version of yourself will be waiting for you when you get there?

Have a wonderful day ✨
