Ever feel like you’re constantly saying, “I’ll start exercising tomorrow,” but tomorrow never actually comes?
Another day slips by.
Then a week.
Then a month.
And before you know it, nothing’s changed except for the excuses.
“I had a long day,”
“I’m tired,”
or “My back hurts.”
Sound familiar?
But here’s the hard truth:
The more you postpone it, the harder it gets.
And trust me, I get it — starting is tough.
But I learned a powerful mind trick that works for me every time I fall off track.
This trick is helping me stick to my routine for 15 years now.
Here it is:
STEP 1: Picture Your Future Self 5 Years from Now If You Stay on This Path
Close your eyes and think about how your body feels today.
Now, imagine continuing your current habits for the next five years.
Will your body feel more stiff, achy, or sluggish?
Will everyday activities, like getting out of a chair, climbing stairs, or playing with the kids become harder?
Take a moment to really picture this.
How will it feel to live in that body?
STEP 2: Imagine 10 or 15 Years from Now
It's time to go deeper into the future.
What if you still don’t take action, what health problems might you be facing 10 or 15 years from now?
Will your knees ache so much you avoid walking long distances?
Will you struggle with your weight or have less energy for the things you love?
Will small tasks feel overwhelming because your body simply can’t keep up anymore?
Let yourself feel what it would be like to face those challenges.
STEP 3: Flip the Script
Now, imagine what’s possible if you start showing up for yourself today, even in small ways.
Picture yourself 5, 10, or 20 years from now.
What will it feel like to wake up with energy and move freely?
How strong and capable will you feel doing everyday tasks or chasing after your loved ones?
What adventures could you enjoy — hiking, traveling, or trying something new —because your body feels amazing?
Hold on to that image of future you: strong, vibrant, and ready to take on life.
STEP 4: Feeling Motivated? Take Action!
Don’t let the motivation fade—take immediate action.
- Put on your sneakers and go for a 10-minute walk
- Roll out your yoga mat and do a quick class
- Do 10 squats or push-ups
It doesn’t have to be perfect or complicated.
Just start.
Remember!
The next 20 years will pass anyway.
The question is: How will you get there?
Don’t wait for another “tomorrow.”
Start today.
Have a wonderful day ✨
