Your Body Isn’t Holding You Back — Your Identity Is

Your Body Isn't Holding You Back — Your Identity Is

We all know we should exercise,
eat healthy,
and take better care of ourselves to feel stronger,
healthier, and more energized.

Yet, even though we know it,
most of us still struggle to follow through…

Why?
It’s not because you’re lazy or don’t care.

It’s because you haven’t changed your identity.

Right now, you might see yourself as someone who’s out of shape.
Someone who loves bread a little too much.
Someone who wears XL.

But here’s the truth:
What you believe about yourself is what you become.

Real change happens when you shift how you see yourself.

When you start to view yourself as a healthy person…
As someone who gets stronger every day…
As someone who only gets better with time…

That’s the moment things change.

You’ll start reaching for veggies at the grocery store.
You’ll choose the stairs instead of the elevator.
You’ll take a walk in the afternoon instead of scrolling on your phone.

That’s when real transformation happens.

But how do you change your identity?
It starts with answering 4 simple questions.
These questions will set the stage for your transformation.

So, grab a comfy seat,
make yourself a cup of coffee,
and pull out a notebook.

It’s time to reflect:

1. What do you believe?

What are your current beliefs about what it takes to be a strong, energetic person?

Or to look 10 years younger than your real age?

If you think it requires grueling gym sessions or eating like a monk, it’s no wonder you’ve been stuck.

Those beliefs are holding you back.

Instead, choose beliefs that empower you:

  • Being in shape is the foundation of a happy and fulfilling life.
  • I get stronger one small step at a time.
  • I can make healthier choices without feeling deprived.
  • My body can feel younger and more vibrant as the years pass.
  • Movement is joy, not a chore.
  • I deserve to feel good in my body.

By shifting your beliefs, you create a mindset that’s ready for change.

2. What do you want?

Get clear on your vision.

What do you really want for your health and body?

Maybe you want to feel light and free in your own skin.

Maybe you want to have more energy to enjoy time with your family, or to move without feeling stiff or uncomfortable.

Get specific:

  • “I want to be able to play with my grandkids without feeling winded.”
  • “I want to look in the mirror and feel proud of what I see.”
  • “I want to wake up in the morning feeling refreshed, not exhausted.”

When you know what you want, you can start moving toward it.

3. Why do you want it?

Now dig deeper.
Why does this matter to you?

Do you want to feel more confident in your body?

Do you want to take control of your health so you can enjoy the years ahead?

Maybe it’s about feeling like you again — strong, capable, and alive.

The “why” is what keeps you going when things get tough.
It’s what reminds you that you’re worth the effort.

4. How will you get it?

This is where the rubber meets the road.
What steps will you take to make this vision a reality?

You don’t need an elaborate plan.

Start small and make it doable:

  • “I’ll add 10 minutes of stretching to my morning routine.”
  • “I’ll swap one processed snack for a piece of fruit each day.”
  • “I’ll take a short walk after dinner instead of sitting on the couch.”

Tiny steps create momentum, and momentum leads to lasting change.

Will answering these 4 questions magically change your identity overnight?

Of course not.
But it’s the start of a powerful shift.

The next step is repetition.

Keep your notebook close.
Read your answers every morning and night.
Let your new beliefs, vision, and reasons sink into your mind.

This works because our minds are wired for repetition.
The more you remind yourself of who you want to become,
the easier it is to start acting like that person.

Seven years ago,
I avoided exercise like the plague.
Cookies were my go-to breakfast.
I felt stiff, stressed, and like my best years were behind me.

But everything changed once I shifted my identity.

I started believing my body was getting stronger and healthier with time.

And when my beliefs shifted,
my actions followed.

Yoga became part of my daily routine to keep my body agile and pain-free.

I started working out to stay strong so I could enjoy everything life has to offer.

And I chose foods that nourished me instead of foods that made me regret eating them five minutes later.

Now, at (almost) 40 I feel stronger than I felt in my 20’s!

I even picked a new hobby this year that I wanted to do for YEARS 👇

And I’m just getting started!

If you’re ready for a real change, start by changing how you see yourself.

You have the power to rewrite your story.

You’re not stuck.
You’re just one mindset shift away from the transformation you’ve been waiting for.

Take that first step today, because the best is not behind you.
It’s still ahead 💛

Have a wonderful day
