A few years ago, my life resembled a rollercoaster ride 🎢
Working in finance, I was wrestling with chronic stress that kept my mind racing like a Formula 1 car and joints that screamed louder than my alarm clock.
The chronic stress made me irritable and snappy 🤬
As for my aching joints? They made me feel like an 80-year-old trapped in a 30-year-old body.
I knew I needed a change so I turned to yoga, and I'm beyond thrilled that I did!
The transformation has been nothing short of astonishing.
I've reclaimed control over stress, my moods swing like a gentle breeze instead of a tornado, and my aches? They've packed their bags and left! 👋
Its impact was so profound that I decided to quit my lucrative finance job to become a yoga teacher!

Unfortunately, many hit a roadblock at the start of their yoga journey.
- Some feel overwhelmed by the array of yoga styles, unsure of which to choose!
- Others get intimidated by complex poses, or believe they need to be super flexible from the get-go.
- And many throw in the towel after a 90-minute yoga class because they simply don’t have the time for it…
But the good news is, you're about to discover the 5 steps that will help you navigate these obstacles and embark on a rewarding yoga journey!
A journey that will improve your physical health and mental well-being, and lead a life teeming with vitality and peace.
🟡 Step 1: Decide on your goal
Before anything else, it's goal-setting time.
What do you want to achieve? Is it strength? flexibility? Inner peace? Each goal will point you to your perfect yoga style, like a compass guiding you to your treasure 🧭
For instance, a strength-building goal and Power yoga would make a dream team.
Want to improve flexibility? put stress under control? I’ll recommend you try Yin yoga

I love both styles and teach both in my digital studio, Ashram.
🟡 Step 2: Book your yoga dates!
To be a consistent yogi, you need a consistent 'date' with your yoga mat ⏰
Just like your favorite TV show, set a time and place for your yoga practice. A peaceful spot with a touch of sunlight could be your dream yoga nook.
For example, I practice yoga every weekday on 7am in my living-room or back yard.
🟡 Step 3: Take baby steps first
Who said you need a 90-minute yoga marathon to reap the benefits? Pfft, not me!
Start with a 10-minute session, focusing on beginner poses. It's all about laying a solid foundation and getting into the yoga groove without being overwhelmed.
Here’s a free 10 minutes yoga practice you can start your day with:https://www.idankirshner.com/resources/beginner-yoga-routine/access/

🟡 Step 4: The 3-week magic!
It's showtime, folks!
Challenge yourself to do yoga daily, at the same time, for three weeks, even if it's just a quick 10-minutes.
Remember, baby steps still move you forward, and after 21 days, you'll be dancing the cha-cha with your new habit. 💃

🟡 Step 5: Raise the bar
It's time to spice things up! 🌶️
Once you've got the hang of the basics and practicing yoga become a habit, explore classes that align more closely with your goal, and feel free to add more minutes to your practice.
This step will keep your yoga journey fresh and exciting.

Remember
Yoga isn't a one-stop destination, it's a fascinating journey. So celebrate every win, big or small, and remember that patience is your BFF here.
Keep in mind, yoga is not about performing gravity-defying poses, it's about learning to listen to your body and mind.
So roll out that mat and take the first step towards a happier, healthier you! 🎉🙌
