Over the years, I’ve tried it all -
Pilates, CrossFit, lifting weights at the gym, swimming, cycling… you name it.
Some of it helped.
A lot of it left me feeling sore, burnt out, or like I was chasing results that didn’t last…
But yoga?
That’s the one practice that’s never left my side.
Yoga didn’t just improve how I move, it transformed how I feel in my body.
And I’m not saying that as someone who teaches yoga for a living (even though I do).
I’m saying it because after more than 15 years of practice and teaching thousands of people, both in-person and online I’ve seen what it can do.
I’ve watched bodies become more open and pain-free.
I’ve seen stiffness melt away.
Sleep improve.
Stress soften.
So whenever someone tells me they want to move better, feel stronger, and get back in tune with their body…
This is where I tell them to start, and I'll tell 4 reasons why:
1. It’s the antidote to stiffness.
Tight hips, achy back, shoulders that feel frozen.
That’s how a lot of people feel when they first step onto the mat, especially if they’ve been sitting more than moving.
The truth?
That stiffness isn’t just age catching up, it’s your body asking for attention.
Yoga gently takes your joints through full ranges of motion, rehydrates tight fascia, and gets blood flowing into areas that have been stuck or inactive.
That’s what helps you feel more open, more mobile and more like yourself again.
2. It builds the kind of strength that actually matters.
Not gym-show muscles. Not punishing routines.
But real strength, the kind that supports your joints, protects your spine, improves balance, and keeps you steady on your feet.
Because in yoga, you’re using your own bodyweight to build control, stability, and awareness, especially in the small stabilizing muscles that often get ignored.
It’s strength that shows up in real life:
when you carry groceries, get up off the floor, or catch your balance before a fall.
3. It resets your nervous system.
You spend most of your day in go-mode: thinking, planning, juggling.
And even when the day ends, your brain doesn’t always get the memo...
Yoga teaches your body how to come down from that stress response.
By linking breath to movement, it signals your nervous system to shift from fight-or-flight into rest-and-repair mode.
That’s how just a few minutes of practice can leave you feeling calmer, clearer, and better able to handle life.
4. It’s actually doable.
You don’t need to be flexible.
You don’t need a gym membership.
You don’t need special clothes or an hour a day.
Yoga meets you at your current level and builds from there.
It’s scalable, adaptable, and easy to grow into.
All you need is a yoga mat (and that’s optional too).
No pressure. No judgment.
Just movement, breath, and the space to feel better, one session at a time.
Final Thoughts
Yoga isn’t just a workout.
It’s how you take care of the body you live in, not just for today, but for years to come.
It’s how you stay mobile, clear-headed, and strong enough to do the things that matter.
It’s how you stay connected to yourself when everything else pulls you away.
And it’s one of the few practices that truly supports you as you age.
So if you’ve been on the fence about trying yoga…
If part of you has been curious, but another part felt unsure, unready, or just a little intimidated…
Let this be your sign to start.
Have a wonderful day
Idan
