5 supplements I take daily (and I’m getting my parents to take too)

You already know the big stuff that keeps you healthier for longer. Move your body, eat real food, sleep, breathe… all the basics.

Those are the foundation and always will be.
But here’s the part most people overlook...

There are a few tiny things you can do that don’t take any extra time or effort, yet still give your health and longevity a nice boost, and one of the easiest is taking a couple of smart, well-researched supplements.

I’m not talking about turning your kitchen cabinet into a pharmacy 👎

I’m talking about five simple things I take every day and the same ones I’m now getting my parents to take too.

Let me walk you through each one, why it matters, what happens when you’re low on it, and the research that backs it all up.

1. Magnesium Glycinate

Magnesium is one of those minerals your body uses for pretty much everything sleep, muscle function, mood, energy… you name it.

It’s involved in over 300 biochemical reactions in your body, yet most adults walk around low on it without realizing.

Research even shows that magnesium supplements can improve sleep quality in older adults and help reduce stress and anxiety levels.

Why I take it?
It helps me wind down at night, keeps my muscles from cramping up after training, and gives me that calm, steady feeling during the day.

Magnesium glycinate is my go-to because it absorbs well and doesn’t upset your stomach like some other forms.

If you’re low, you might notice

  • Restless sleep
  • Muscle tightness or cramps
  • Feeling stressed or easily overwhelmed
  • Low energy

Bringing your magnesium levels back up can make a surprising difference in how your body feels and functions.

2. Omega-3

Omega-3 is one of those nutrients that almost everyone is low on, especially if you’re not eating salmon a few times a week.

And low levels show up everywhere!
your joints, your mood, your brain, even your skin.

There’s a lot of solid research behind this one. Studies show omega-3s can lower inflammation, support heart health, and even improve cognitive function and mood in adults over 50.

So this is one of those supplements where the benefits really add up over time.

Why I take it?
It keeps my joints feeling smoother, helps my brain stay sharp, and just makes my whole body feel less “inflamed,” especially on heavier training days. It’s also one of the easiest wins for long-term health.

If you’re low, you might notice

  • Stiff or achy joints
  • Low mood
  • Brain fog
  • Dry skin
  • Feeling “inflamed” or puffy

Omega-3 isn’t flashy, but it’s one of the few supplements where the research is consistent and the benefits are pretty hard to ignore.

3. Vitamin D3 + K2

Vitamin D is one of those supplements almost everyone thinks they’re fine with… until they get a blood test and realize they’re nowhere near optimal.

And it makes sense since most of us spend our days indoors, covered up, or under cloudy skies.

Low Vitamin D shows up fast.
It affects mood, immunity, hormones, and even bone strength.

Research consistently links low D levels to lower mood, weaker immune function, and reduced bone density, especially as we age.

That’s where K2 comes in.
Vitamin K2 helps direct calcium into your bones instead of letting it build up in your arteries. Some really interesting studies show that K2 helps keep arteries flexible and supports stronger bones.

Why I take this combo?

It helps keep my mood steady (especially in the darker months), supports my immune system, and gives my bones what they need long-term. The combo works better together than D3 alone.

If you’re low, you might notice

  • Low or “wintery” mood
  • Getting sick more often
  • Fatigue
  • Bone weakness or aches

This is one of those supplements that feels simple, but when you keep your levels in the healthy range, you really feel the difference and the long-term benefits are huge.

4. Creatine

If there’s one supplement I wish more people took, it’s creatine. Most people still think it’s “for bodybuilders,” but the research keeps proving the opposite.

Creatine is one of the most studied supplements in the world, and it’s been shown to improve cognitive function in older adults and help maintain muscle mass and strength, which naturally decline over time.

In other words, this stuff isn’t about getting huge. It’s about staying strong, sharp, and independent as you get older.

Why I take it?

It helps me recover faster, push a little harder in my workouts, and just feel more “switched on” mentally. I take 5 grams a day, no loading, no cycling, nothing fancy.

If you’re low, you might notice

  • Feeling weaker than you used to
  • Slower recovery from workouts
  • Low physical energy
  • Trouble concentrating

Creatine is one of the easiest, safest, most effective “aging insurance policies” you can add to your routine. Tiny scoop, big impact.

5. Spermidine

This is the newest addition to my routine, and honestly, I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about it yet.

Spermidine is a natural compound found in foods like wheat germ, soy, mushrooms, and some cheeses, and the research around it is pretty exciting!

Studies show it can activate autophagy, basically your body’s built-in “cell clean-up” process. Think of it as taking out the cellular trash so everything runs better.

There are also long-term studies linking higher spermidine intake to better cardiovascular health and growing evidence that spermidine supports brain health as we age.

One study with 4000 adults found that people with higher spermidine levels had significantly lower odds of cognitive decline.

And another human trial showed that older adults who already felt their memory slipping actually had improved memory performance after taking spermidine for a few months.

Why I take it?
It’s simple. As we age, our natural autophagy slows down, which means more cellular damage piles up.

Spermidine helps bring that process back online.

I take it for healthy aging, better cellular repair, and to support things like hair, skin, and overall vitality.

If you’re low, you might notice
You won’t “feel” a spermidine deficiency the way you do with magnesium or vitamin D.

This one is more quiet, long-term, behind-the-scenes, exactly why it’s so valuable.

Not a magic pill 🪄

Supplements aren’t magic, and they’re not meant to replace real food, movement, or sleep. But the right ones can give your body a little extra support, especially as the years go by.

These five are simple, safe, and backed by solid research. They don’t require any extra effort, they don’t add more stress to your day, and they actually make a real difference over time.

That’s why I take them myself. And it’s why I’ve started getting my parents on them too.

Have a wonderful day ✨
