Eating clean but still feel bloated?
It might not be what you’re eating, but how your gut is reacting to it.
Today we’re talking about the healthy foods that mess with your belly (and what to do about it).
You eat clean.
Salads. Smoothies. Veggies. Whole grains.
You do all the “right” things…and then your stomach goes poof like a balloon 🎈
What gives?
🥦 Meet FODMAPs
FODMAPs are types of carbs found in a bunch of regular foods, even healthy ones.
They’re not bad, but if your gut’s sensitive, they can cause gas, bloating, and that “ugh I need stretchy pants” feeling after meals.
Stuff like:
- Onions, garlic
- Apples, pears
- Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower
- Beans, lentils
- Dairy, wheat
Not all of these will mess with you.
But if you’re bloated all the time, one or two might be the reason.
🕵️♀️ How to figure out which ones are causing trouble?
Here’s the simple way I recommend:
Step 1: Track what you eat + how you feel
No need to overdo it. Just jot it down.
“Had lentil soup at lunch. Felt fine.”
OR “Had garlic pasta. Bloated like a balloon.”
Step 2: Look for repeat offenders
See something popping up every time your belly blows up?
That’s your clue.
Step 3: Take a break from the top 2–3
Give your gut a breather.
Just for a few days, not forever.
Step 4: Bring them back, one at a time
This is where you learn what actually works for your body.
No guessing, no crazy rules.
💡 Extra habits that help (no matter what you eat)
Bloating isn’t just about food.
These little tweaks can help big time:
👉 Chew more (like, actually chew)
👉 Take a few deep breaths before eating
👉 Don’t drink water while you eat
👉 Move a little after meals (walk, stretch, wiggle… whatever)
👉 Ease off the sugar (yep, even the “healthy” kind sometimes feeds the bloat)
💬 Real talk?
You don’t need to suffer through every meal or live in leggings forever.
A few tweaks, a little food detective work, and your belly can start feeling… well, like yours again.
You've got this.
Have a wonderful day ✨
