Earlier this week a client sent me a screenshot that says more about her health than any scale ever could.
It was her resting heart rate

Some context:
She joined my RESET 21 nutrition challenge in mid November and started eating better in a simple, supportive way.
She lost 5.9 kg in the first 3 weeks, and so far she’s down 8 kg (and we are just getting started)
But what caught my attention wasn’t the weight…
It was this:
Her average resting heart rate dropped and stayed lower for weeks.
What is resting heart rate, and why it matters
Your resting heart rate is how many times your heart beats per minute when you are completely at rest.
It tells us how hard your heart has to work just to keep you alive.
The lower it is (within a healthy range), the more efficient your heart and nervous system are.
Healthy resting heart rate in your 50s
Here’s a simple breakdown:
- 55-65 bpm: excellent, often seen in active individuals
- 60-75 bpm: healthy and normal
- 75-85 bpm: on the higher side, often linked to stress, inflammation, or low fitness
- 85+ bpm: a red flag if it stays there long term
My client moved average of from 76 bpm down to around 68 bpm.
That’s a meaningful shift
What a lower resting heart rate usually tells us
When resting heart rate goes down, it often means:
- Your heart pumps blood more efficiently
- Inflammation in the body is coming down
- Blood sugar regulation is improving
- Your nervous system is calmer
- Recovery and sleep quality improve
In short, your body is under less internal stress and function better.
And it didn’t stop there
She also shared something else.
Her joint pain has reduced.
For someone dealing with long term joint issues, this is huge.
Less body weight means less load on the joints.
Better nutrition means lower inflammation.
So this wasn’t just weight loss.
It was a shift in her overall quality of life.
Takeaway
When people focus only on the scale, they miss what’s really happening.
When you start eating better in a way that supports your body:
- Your heart gets healthier
- Your joints feel better
- Your nervous system calms down
The scale moves, yes.
But the real changes go far beyond that
Have a wonderful day
