Yesterday, I tracked how many hours I sit in a day.
I realized I had spent 10 hours seated on my butt.
I started working on my laptop at 8 AM (after my morning routine).
Took a break for lunch (still seated).
And continued working until 6 PM when I finally got up for a walk and gym session.
After a shower and dinner?
Three more hours on the couch before bed.
Most people spend their days just like that -
seated for 10 hours or more.
And in many cases, they don’t counter all that sitting with a morning stretch, a daily walk, or a workout session.
This endless sitting comes at a cost.
If you sit all day and do nothing to counter it, at least do these 5 stretches.
They’re a simple way to keep your body from locking up completely and help you move with more ease:
Hip Opener

Been sitting all day? This one’s a game-changer for tight hips and lower back tension.
It’ll help loosen things up so you can move more freely.
Hold for 10 deep breathes (around 60 sec) on each side.
Hamstring Stretch

If your legs feel stiff and heavy, this stretch is like hitting the reset button.
It lengthens tight hamstrings and eases lower back stiffness.
Hold for 10 deep breathes (around 60 sec) on each side.
Open Chest & shoulders

Spent too much time hunched over your desk or phone?
This one will open up your chest, improve posture, and make you feel more expanded.
Option 1: kneeling position like I do (awesome feet stretch!)
Option 2: Standing
Hold for 5-10 deep breathes.
Loosen The Back

If your back feels stiff and sore, this move will wring out the tension and help you feel more mobile.
Hold for 10 deep breathes on each side.
Relax the Neck & Upper Back

One of my favorite moves!
Perfect for releasing the upper back and neck.
This move stretch the upper back, shoulders, and neck so you can enjoy tension-free days.
Option 1: Seated crossed-leg on the floor (like I do)
Option 2: Seated on a chair works great as well.
5-10 repetitions.
Takeaway
Flexibility isn’t about being naturally bendy, it’s about doing the right stretches regularly.
And when you do, movement becomes effortless, pain fades, and you feel good in your body again.
Try these now and notice how much better your body feels in just a few minutes.
Have a wonderful day
